Majorca (Mallorca): Playa des Carbó et Isla Moltana 39ºN18’  003ºE00'

August 2009

The beach is very nice. But there are some zones with rocks in the bottom. Also the sandy zones are not ideal to moor, as the sand is very hard and the anchor slips very easely. On top of that the numerous motor crafts in the season do not stop passing, going or coming from Praia de Sa Roquetas, creating an ongoing shoal!

Majorca (Mallorca): Playa Caragol 39ºN16’  003ºE02'

Playa Caragol is a very nice sand beach. In fact you can walk the ultimate 50 meters to the beach. It is located in a natural reserve, and there is only one private house, and a few shelters for small fishing boats. In August, less than then sailboats stayed for the night. There are nice walks to do to the Cap Punta salinas, with the view to the Caprera Eiland, that we did not visist as you need a permit. Around 11 AM, a good number of boats, will arrive. But the beach, with a large number of nudists, is not crowded. Most probably because there are no bars, ice creams, etc.

Majorque (Mallorca): Portocolom 39ºN25’  003ºE16'

August 2009

Portocolom, and not Puerto, is a very nice bay, well protected as the entrance is not very large. There are two small marinas, but with very few berths for passing boats. It is not really a problem as there are on port side laid moorings, and a lot of space to anchor. In fact few sailors respect the channel zone!

The old part of the village is quite charming. There are no buildings with more than three levels. There are good restaurants (we love the Floriant!) and you find supermarkets in the modern part, behind the hotels. Behind the “capitaneria” you find good showers and o bar for the pensioners , where the beer is half the price! Good to know....

In the bay there are also two small beaches, but the water is not as transparent as in the open calas.

Majorque (Mallorca): Portocristo 39ºN32'  003ºE20'

This bay is rather small and offer little place to anchor, and the private marina has few berths for visitors and its swimming pool and restaurants have seen better days.... The village has no charm and is full of tourists souvenirs shops. Not worth to stay...
