Sardinia: Cagliari 39 ° N12 '009 ° E07'

November 2009

To some extent Cagliari reminds me of Lisbon. Instead of the Tagus there of course the Mediterranean, but you will also find many hills, the upper town and its <baixa>.

Along the Via Roma, you find the port with several marinas. I do not recommend docking port on the Via Roma, because only by seeing the swell caused by the ferries, you would get seasick! Go rather to the Marina Sant'Elmo of offering good service. The restaurant and bar with its terrace are facing the sea, the Yacht Club is also nice. There are two more marinas Del Sole and Di Bonaria.

From Via Romana to the Matteotti Plaza, where you can admire the Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall) with its Neo-Gothic early 20 th century, I suggest you go back in Largo Felice. Make this during day time because at the evening this avenue turns into African market with false  Gucci, Luis Vuitton, Chanel, etc..

Then you reach the old city where some buildings date from the 11 Th. Century. The tower of the elephant, 13 Th. century, is spectacular. Along the Via Martini there are good restaurants with spectacular terraces. The place Palazzo Boyl is magnificent with its view overlooking the bay. The  San Remy bastion gives passage to the lower city.

In fact there are many things to do in Cagliari. We regret not having had time to see the Roman amphitheater, or underground.

Sardinia: Piccola Marina Del Poetto 39 º N11 '009 ° E09'

November 2009

As its name suggests the Marina Piccola is not large and is oriented towards small crafts. But there is one pontoon for the 12-18 meters. In addition to its sailing school and kayak club, there is a restaurant, Le Corsaire and snack vending. A beautiful beach complete the scenario.. The site offers no facility in terms of provisions.

Sardinia: Marina Di Capitana 39 º N12 '009 ° E17'

November 2009

At least than 10 Nm from Gagliari, this modern marina is in the bay that that begins at the Marina Piccola.

Next to it is a great hotel and holiday homes, a bit outdated. In addition to the restaurant and bar at the marina you will find 500 meters from there a supermarket open all year. There is a representative of the Jeanneau brand and a small yard. For a boat of 12 m. you will pay € 75 and € 375 in the winter month.

Sardinia Villasimius 39 º N07 '009 ° E30'

November 2009

The region of Villasimius is splendid. You'll find fabulous beaches between Cabo Boi and Cabo Carbonara, including a charming one right next to the marina. This one is modern and offers a shipyard, restaurant and bar, but open only in summer. For  supplies  you need to go to the village, which is 4 km far away! North of Cabo Carbonara, you find  Notteri bay, where  a string of sand  separates the beach from the sea. You will also see Cavoli Isola, where stands a statue of the Madonna Dei Fondal. See also the stronghold of the 17 th century, the Fortezza Vecchia.

Sardinia Porto Corallo 39 º N26 '009 ° E38'

November 2009

A sailor met in  Mahon told us much good this little marina. It is with enthusiasm that we made a halt. Imagine our surprise to see a real desert in November. Apart from a guard in his little hut at the entrance, there is not a living soul. There are many buildings under construction which should be finished in 2010. Directly opposite the marina there is a restaurant but only the bar is open in Autumn. The food shop in the nearby campsite, also closes out  off season.

Sardinia: Arbatax 39 º N56 '009 ° E42'

November 2009.

We liked the marina Arbatax because it has everything transit sailboats need. A nearby village with its shops, a good shipyard and good facilities. A pizzeria and a cafe along the main pontoon accommodate you nicely. Do not look for  small beach right next, because you will find the commercial harbor in the distance. If you need to have work performed by the yard, ask the friendly Paolo di Mulas, the boss of Cantiere Nautico (cell 3387088259).

Sardinia Santa Maria Navarrese 39 º N59 '009 ° E41'

November 2009.

It is from this marina that organized visits leave to the famous Grotto delle Navy Bue, but do not hope to meet seal because this breed has virtually disappeared from the Mediterranean. You can also go on excursions to discover the land Gennargentu National Park.

But better to have a car as it rises to more than 800 meters with magnificent landscapes. Beware that the marina has does not diesel (go to Arbatax 2 NM). You will find shops, restaurants, etc.. the village at the top of the hill.
