Cetraro: 39ºN31'   15ºE55'

April 2010

Cetraro is not a touristic place, and the village is far away. Nevertheless it is one of the few marinas in Calabria. The Imray is not correct in terms of depth, as we encountered at least 4 meters, in terms of contact ( TEL: 0982978275) and in terms of pontoons as there are now two for visitors. Nevertheless there is no marina staff working in winter and spring! Therefore at this time of the year it is free (but no electricity and water!) close by. The only soul we met on the main pontoon was Mr. Francesco who indicates us the berth and helped us with the maneuver. In fact he is owner of the restaurant located just in front of the marina (Gambero Rosso) and he offers to take you to the village if you need anything. And obviously he tells you the menu! He can in fact be of some help to find a birth in the summer. ( TeL: 3286711112)

Vibo Valentia Marina: 38ºN43'   16ºE07'

Aprill 2010

In Vibo there are two marinas, Marina Carmelo et Marina Stella del SUD. We choose the latter, ( 0963573202) as it looked more suitable for more than 12 meters boats, specially with the 27 Kn. of wind when we arrived, and because the Imray indicated that the owner is Italo Canadian. The electricity poles are equipped with counters, there is a little bar with nice terrace, a large book shelf for exchanging books, and showers. The existing ones are small, but they are remodeling them. In terms of price, you can negotiate, so it dropped to 25€, the tripled in high season, but it does not look that there are a lot of visitors places!

There is a nice beach very close, and all types of commerce in the town, 5 minutes walk. But do not look for a picturesque place!

Vibo Valentia Marina: 38ºN54'   17ºE01'

Le Castella is a nice place to stay. The village is not what you can call a charming one, but its castle is worth visiting. But the people are charming, always saying an hello and starting the conversation: the fisherman explaining that he will not fish today because there will be bad weather, the baker saying that the bread baked in a wood oven will be ready only later, or the owner of the coffee shop asking you where you are sailing... The marina, that offers pontoons (with lines) with electricity and water, good showers... and nothing else. No WIFI, no coffee shop, etc. But the village is nearby and you will find a supermarket so 200 meters from the marina and all type of shops in the village. Note that you can negotiate the price (we paid 15 instead of 25€) but with no bill! Note that the telephone number mentioned in the Imray is not correct!
